Energy Elements is currently installing the following energy systems.

Grid-tie System
A grid-tied PV system is the most popular consumer choice today.  It offers the benefit of higher efficiency and it does not require batteries.  This system connects directly to the utility grid.  When excess electricity is produced the extra electricity is fed back on the grid through a process called net-metering (link to net metering FAQ).  The customers utility account is credited for all excess energy produced.  This causes the electric meter to spin backwards.  At night, when the sun is not shining, the electric meter spins forward and depletes the credits acquired during the day.  These factors make them very cost effective because they are less complex systems that require fewer components.

Grid-tie w/Battery Backup
This PV system provides the customer with backup battery power during grid outages and net-metering capability.  These benefits increase the system cost because of design complexity and an increase in components required.  The amount of batteries needed is determined by how many hours of autonomy the customer requires.  The ability to select which loads will be powered by the batteries is an added benefit.

Off-Grid System
An off grid PV system is completely disconnected from the utility grid.  Most common usage is in remote locations where electric power is unavailable.  In some instances it is cheaper to purchase an off-grid system than to pay for utility line extension.  Off-grid PV customers will need to be aware of their electricity usage.  This type of system utilizes the same components as the grid-tie with battery back-up.

UPS
An uninterruptible power system does not utilize PV modules.  It is essentially a battery bank that stores power.  When the utility grid goes down the batteries will provide power for a predetermined period of time.  The customer has the ability to determine which loads to power during a grid outage.

The 4 Step Installation Process

Solar energy systems are designed and engineered to meet very specific applications and uses.  Every system is custom designed to maximize efficiency.  Our systems are completely modular and provide the ability for generating either a percentage or all of your electric needs.  This system modularity allows for easy upgrades at anytime.

Step 1 - Energy Elements will conduct a site survey to evaluate the type of system best suited for your location, electricity requirements and budget.   During the initial consultation you will be provided with information on how to reduce your electricity usage, usage is a key component that determines system size and cost.  An energy efficient building will maximize your return on investment.

During the site survey Energy Elements will evaluate your solar potential.  Site specific data is critical to good system design.  Energy Elements will survey all aspects of system placement accounting for National Electric Code requirements, state and local building codes.

Our customers are an important part of this process.  We understand that aesthetics and budget play a role in your decision to purchase a PV system.  Customer expectations are a top priority.

Step 2 - Energy Elements will prepare a design package detailing your options of system size, cost, aesthetics and power generation capabilities. We will provide a financial analysis to aid in your decision making process.  Also included will be the information for the State, Local and Federal, rebates and tax incentives, and other funding options that are available. We will meet with you to ensure that you understand every detail of your design package.

Step 3 - Once a system is selected Energy Elements will apply for all permits, provide assistance filing incentive paperwork, provide installation and see to all required code inspections.  All systems will be of the highest quality craftsmanship and will meet NEC requirements.  System components come with product warranties which are passed directly to the customer.

Step 4 Upon system installation completion, Energy Elements staff will show you how the system works and how to check to see that it is operating correctly.  Solar energy systems require very little maintenance, however Energy Elements will do an initial 6 month checkup to ensure the system is meeting performance requirements.  We also provide service for all installed systems.
